“Space Race” – the competition between the USSR and the USA for space flight superiority started with the launch of an artificial satellite in 1957. It continued with robotic space probes to the Moon, Venus, and Mars, culminating in sending humans into Earth’s orbit and ultimately to the Moon. The 1975 Apollo-Soyuz space mission symbolized cooperation between the two sides and marked the end of the space race.
